Deontay Wilder made a successful comeback to the sport of boxing this evening following his back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury with a monstrous first-round knockout of Robert Helenius.

From the off, Helenius was putting the pressure on early and walking Wilder down, but you could say he walked too close to the Bronze Bomber, which ultimately left him on his back on the canvas.

Helenius of all people should know that when fighting Wilder, walking him down has always proven to be a big risk.

For those that were not aware, the two have sparred together a lot in the past so they know each other very well.

Helenius had Wilder backed up against the ropes, but that's when it all went wrong.

Coming into the fight, Wilder has been dubbed as one of the hardest-hitting heavyweights in the history of the division.

The right hand from the Bronze Bomber quite simply stunned the European, dropping him to the canvas in a matter of seconds.

Eventually, Helenius was fortunately able to get back to his feet and leave the ring, but it was with the help of his coaches and ringside doctors.

Like many before Helenius, Wilder’s opponents have often produced the same reactions after getting knocked out by the Bronze Bomber.

There were questions going into the fight, but Deontay Wilder proved his doubters wrong as he eyes up some jaw-dropping fantasy fights next.

The likes of Andy Ruiz Jr, Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk have all been mentioned.

After seeing Helenius’ face following the knockout, however, many fighters may choose to stay away from the American.

Wilder has had a history of producing highlight-reel KOs and he will be happy to be back in the win column after a year away from the sport.

Despite being against the ropes, Wilder was able to land something, which put his opponent to sleep in what was an eye-catching display.
