Arsenal will tell their rivals that Gabriel Martinelli is "not for sale", according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Chelsea are said to be interested in the 21-year-old forward, but Jones cannot see the Gunners entertaining any offers for him.

What is the latest news involving Martinelli?

The Daily Mail recently reported that Arsenal are in talks with Martinelli over a new contract.

However, according to the same outlet, the north London club will have to offer the Brazilian around £200,000 a week if they want him to sign an extension.

Martinelli has less than two years remaining on his current contract, which is thought to be worth £70,000 a week.

Should Arsenal fail to agree a new deal with Martinelli, Chelsea could make a move for him, with the Daily Mail claiming that they have the former Ituano player on their radar.

What has Jones said about Martinelli and Arsenal?

Jones doubts Chelsea or any other club will have any success if they decide to pursue Martinelli.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "Martinelli is very important to the growth of the club as well as the team. And while there is various interest from various places at the moment, I think they would just firmly tell people that he's not for sale."

Why are Arsenal unwilling to sell Martinelli?

He is one of their best players; it is as simple as that. The Brazil international has been excellent for Arsenal this season, scoring four goals in his first 10 Premier League games.

His contribution has helped take Mikel Arteta's side to the top of the Premier League table and, at just 21 years of age, you would expect him to only improve.

Speaking about Martinelli after Arsenal's 3-0 win against Brentford last month, Arteta said (via football.london): "If you look at the game he played a year ago here and today it is just incredible how fast they grow, they mature, they recognise situations, execution levels, and their understanding.

"He looks like a different player. I thought he was really good today."

Currently, Martinelli is valued at around £60m by the CIES Football Observatory. But with the form he is in at the moment, you would suspect not even that would be enough to get him out of the Emirates.

All in all, it is hard to imagine Arsenal selling Martinelli, especially to their London rivals Chelsea.
