Miles Jacobson has revealed that Football Manager “definitely” has a future on console as FM23 prepares to launch on both Xbox and PlayStation.

The new game has released on November 8th and has landed on all the usual PC storefronts.

It is also coming to Xbox Game Pass, once again, having released there for FM22 too, and a new announcement has revealed that it will also be available on PlayStation 5.

That is a huge boost for not only the player base, but also Sports Interactive, as they aim to bring FM to as many possible fans, although it has been delayed, per an official announcement.

Miles sat down with GiveMeSport to talk all things Football Manager and he believes that there is absolutely a market for the game to continue releasing yearly on console.

Miles Jacobson reveals all on FM23 console release

The new game will hit all consoles on November 8th and Miles has revealed that the numbers the game has received on Xbox Game Pass make releasing on console annually viable.

He has admitted, however, that the team have needed to make alterations to the way the game works on console, as opposed to how it is played on PC, with one of the headline features being that it is much quicker.

Speaking exclusively to GMS, he said: “One of the reasons that we're able to do this is the game has been so successful on Xbox on Game Pass, that it's meant that we know that we definitely have a future on console.

"The numbers have been really, really impressive. And people have been really enjoying it and not just playing it for a month like you do on most console games, but literally playing it in a similar way to the PC game gets played. But it's important to deliver the right experience for that audience. So making sure that there is a differentiation in features because playing the game on a telly is different to playing the game on a laptop or on a home computer.

“Because the telly tends to be in the living room and tend to be multiple people wanting to watch different things on it. So, it's definitely a sped-up experience compared to the PC. But a great experience in its own right and I think that's the importance that having an internal console team gives here.”
