Chelsea star Denis Zakaria's days at Stamford Bridge could already be numbered as there is 'definitely a chance' that his loan from Juventus will be terminated ahead of schedule, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The west Londoners spent more than £250million during the summer transfer window and the defensive midfielder was among the fresh faces, but the move has not worked out.

What's the latest news involving Zakaria?

Although Zakaria made a deadline day move to Chelsea, joining on an initial season-long loan which has the option of being made permanent, a quickfire move away from the capital appears to be on the cards.

According to 90min, the Blues are looking to terminate Zakaria’s loan in January and a return to parent club Juventus is in the offing.

The report suggests the 42-cap Switzerland international does not feature in Chelsea head coach Graham Potter's plans.

However, Chelsea may have to keep Zakaria at the club until the end of the season as it is understood that Juventus do not have an obligation to take him back ahead of schedule.

The 25-year-old, who had already made two Serie A appearances during the early stages of the campaign before his switch to London, is looking to bag a place in Switzerland's squad for the upcoming World Cup despite finding life tough with the Blues.

What has Paul Brown said about Zakaria?

Brown believes there is a strong possibility that Zakaria will be sent back to Juventus when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The journalist feels a number of midfielders are ahead of the former Borussia Monchengladbach man in the pecking order.

When asked whether Zakaria could leave west London in January, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "It's possible. I think there's definitely a chance that the loan will get terminated.

"Chelsea have quite a lot of players ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment and a lot of different ways they can play. They even tried Mason Mount a bit deeper at one point this season."

Why could Chelsea terminate Zakaria's loan early?

Zakaria is still waiting to make his Chelsea debut and was only named in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time when Potter's side overcame Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Swiss star's Blues career got off to the worst possible start when Thomas Tuchel, the man who brought him to the capital, was sacked just days after his arrival.

Potter was appointed as the German's successor and it is abundantly clear that Zakaria has not done enough to persuade the former Brighton & Hove Albion chief to give him a chance.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Zakaria's move was 'a total waste of time', so it would make sense to attempt to broker a deal with Juventus which would see him return to Italy ahead of schedule.
