It could be said that Conor McGregor is one of the very best to have ever stepped inside UFC’s illustrious Octagon. In fact, according to Tapology, he's actually considered the 21st greatest MMA fighter of all time!He rose to the very top throughout the years, including two bouts with Nate Diaz (one victory each) and he knocked Jose Aldo out cold in 13 seconds to win featherweight gold. However, in a video featuring McGregor, posted by Twitter user @EvolKame, Notorious is seen predicting his own future, one which that appears to contain his very own downfall.

Did Conor McGregor predict his own downfall?

McGregor is sat against a wall and is quite evidently exhausted physically and mentally and spoke with ominous despair as he drew comparisons between himself and famous artist Vincent van Gogh.

It may seem odd, but Notorious explained that he felt like he was giving his absolute all to his “art”, much like Van Gogh before him.

Video: Conor McGregor's prediction came true

What’s mad is this video was filmed nine years ago at a training camp and McGregor seemed to really be losing himself as he put every fibre of his being into perfecting his fighting game.

He also spoke about his goals for himself both in and out of the Octagon’s walls.

In the video, the former double division champion says: “When that gold belt is around my waist, when my mother has a mansion and my girlfriend has a different car for each day of the week, that’s how I'll know fighting for a living paid off.”

He also stressed great importance on his kids and their children to never have to go through any financial hardship, much like he had to growing up in Ireland. It could be said that once he got those things, he may have lost the focus and determination he once had.

When was Conor McGregor's peak UFC days?

His run between 2015 and 2016 saw one of the fastest rises in the history of MMA. He even beat Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title to pair with his already won featherweight championship.

From there, however, it seemed like everything went downhill pretty fast for the 34-year-old.

When did it all go wrong for Conor McGregor?

The Irishman went head to head with Khabib Nurmagomedov, with the build-up to the fight being particularly difficult as it was intensely personally between the two.

It got even uglier when The Eagle defeated McGregor via submission in the fourth round with a neck crank, as the Russian superstar jumped over the cage in order to brawl with members of McGregor's team, in particular Dillon Danis.

The Irishman was noticeably not himself in that bout, as Khabib dissected him with such intelligence and finesse.

McGregor returned well over a year later, where he defeated Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds and gave any lapsed Notorious fan a glimmer of hope.

However, he lost out twice to Dustin Poirier last year, the second of which saw that horrifying leg injury and the Irishman hasn’t been seen since.

After he revealed in the short video that he was “losing his mind” in the fight game, even well early into his career, could it be possible that his confidence and character may have diminished after he won everything he wanted to?

He had what it took to make his way to the top of the mountain, but it would appear he didn’t have the mentality to remain there.
