Federico Valverde nearly broke the net with an absolute screamer for Real Madrid against Sevilla on Saturday evening.

Real were without Karim Benzema for the La Liga clash at Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman missed out with muscle fatigue.

But the recent Ballon d'Or winner's absence did not matter as Real won 3-1.

Luka Modric gave Real the lead in the fifth minute, only for Erik Lamela to notch the equaliser 10 minutes after half-time.

Los Blancos then scored two goals in as many minutes to take the game away from Sevilla.

Lucas Vazquez gave Real the lead once again in the 79th minute.

Vinicius Jr raced clear and unselfishly set up Lucas to roll the ball into an empty net.

Two minutes later, Valverde scored a thunderbolt to give his side a two-goal advantage.

The Uruguayan, who has been in brilliant form this season, took aim from 25 yards out and unleashed a rocket that nestled in the top corner.

It was a brilliant strike and you can view it below...

Valverde cannot stop scoring bangers.

The 24-year-old has now hit the back of the net in each of the last three games.

His seven goals this campaign is more than his goal tally in the previous four seasons combined.

Toni Kroos called Valverde a top three player in the world right now after Real's win in El Clasico last week.

Given his recent form, there isn't many people that would disagree with that point.

It's early days, but Valverde seems to be well in the running for the 2023 Ballon d'Or award.

Real maintain their La Liga lead

Real remain unbeaten in La Liga and have gone six points clear at the top of the table.

Barcelona could cut the gap back to three points once again should they beat Athletic Club on Sunday.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are next in action on Wednesday when they travel to Germany to take on Red Bull Leipzig in their Champions League Group F clash. A win would see Los Blancos qualify for the knockout rounds.
