Jose Mourinho's Roma side were defeated by fierce rivals Napoli in the Derby del Sole on Sunday evening.

Both sides had enjoyed a decent start to the season.

Roma went into the game knowing a win would see them go back into the top four in Serie A.

Napoli, meanwhile, were leading the way and looking to extend their lead at the top to three points.

It was Luciano Spalletti's side that emerged victorious at Stadio Olimpico.

Victor Osimhen's moment of magic in the 80th minute gave the away side all three points.

The Nigerian got the better of Chris Smalling before firing home from a tight angle.

Mourinho has gone viral for his reaction to referee Massimiliano Irrati handing out a red card after the final whistle.

There was a heated altercation between Roma's fitness coach, defender Rick Karsdorp and Irrati.

A red card was given out and Karsdorp appeared to push the referee in anger.

Mourinho can be seen walking towards the incident when it was all kicking off but, after seeing the red card, quickly turned and moved off in the other direction. View the moment below...

Mourinho has been sent off numerous times in his career, most recently against Atalanta in September.

He usually loves the drama but on this occasion he had no intention to get in trouble himself.

He was already on a yellow card so it was probably wise that he did not get involved.

Football fans have been laughing at Mourinho's reaction and you can view some comments below...

Who was sent off in Roma vs Napoli?

Mourinho spoke to the media after the game where he shed light on who was given the red card.

“I think it was my fitness coach who was sent off, but Irrati [referee] got it wrong because [Hirving] Lozano attacked one of my men," he said, per football-italia.

The official Lega Serie A report does not indicate Karsdorp was sent off, suggesting Mourinho is right with his assessment.

Mourinho also shared his thoughts on the match itself.

“The performance was sufficient to not lose the game. I wanted to win, but in the same way they won, which was a few attempts on goal and one in to win it,” Mourinho told DAZN, per football-italia.

“It was a difficult match, well controlled, after many yellow cards we struggled and they scored with one of the only dangerous situations they created in the second half. If not for the yellow, Cristante would’ve been able to make a foul early and block that counter.

“I feel a sense of injustice and embrace my players, because they did everything possible and I think they did enough to avoid defeat. We knew whoever got a goal would win, and it was Napoli.”
