West Ham will not sell midfielder Declan Rice for cheap, says Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Englishman continues to be linked with a move away from the London Stadium, but Sheth is expecting the Hammers to demand huge money for their captain.

What is the latest news involving Rice?

Football Insider recently reported that Rice has no plans to sign a new contract at West Ham.

The above comes amid interest from two of English football's biggest clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea.

According to the same outlet, the Reds have Rice on their radar as they look to bring a new midfielder to Anfield. Elsewhere, a report from The Telegraph claims that Chelsea could make a move for the 23-year-old next summer.

The Blues have been keen on Rice for a while now, with former manager Frank Lampard having tried to sign him when he was in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

What has Sheth said about Rice's West Ham future?

Sheth is certain West Ham will put up a fight to keep hold of their skipper.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: "West Ham United, make no mistake about it, they know the value of Declan Rice. They will not be selling him on the cheap.

"There's all this talk about that it's a done deal to Chelsea. He's going to reunite with his best friend Mason Mount. All of that stuff, that's been going on for years and years and years, and yet he's still remained at West Ham United."

How much should West Ham sell Rice for?

Rice has less than two years remaining on his contract - though West Ham do have the option to extend it by a further 12 months - so the Hammers may be a bit more open to a sale next summer.

In the past, manager David Moyes has said that the east London club value the England international, who has played in the Premier League 179 times, at £150m. No one is going to pay that, especially given his contract situation. A fee closer to £100m is probably much more realistic.

Rice is one of the best defensive midfielders in the English top flight and is still just 23 years of age, so Chelsea or Liverpool cannot pay pennies for him. This season, he is currently making 2.6 tackles per game, which is the second-highest average in his squad (via WhoScored).

From West Ham's perspective, £100m is still a lot of money, especially for a player who is running his contract down and has no interest in signing a new one.

When you consider all of that, £100m sounds like a fair price.
