Tottenham manager Antonio Conte committing his future to the club could be a "massive factor" in Harry Kane joining him, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The pair are arguably the two most important figures at the north London outfit but both have doubts over their long-term futures.

What's the latest news involving Conte and Kane?

Until the defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle, Spurs were going well in the Premier League and in touching distance of leaders Arsenal at the top.

Those disappointing results have put a downer on what has been a promising start to the season for Conte's side, although they still sit third and are top of their Champions League group.

But Tottenham will have to keep performing well to convince Conte to stay beyond this campaign, with his £250,000 per-week deal running out next summer.

Spurs will also be concerned about Kane's contract situation, with the England captain set to enter the final 12 months of his terms in 2023.

Back in July, Alasdair Gold revealed that while Kane hasn't been offered a new contract, he would be open to extending his stay at his boyhood club, while Tottenham are 'planning' on securing Conte's long-term future.

What did Jones say about Conte and Kane?

Asked what Conte signing a contract extension could do for Kane, he told GIVEMESPORT: "I think it'd be a massive factor in Kane staying, I think he'll be looking for consistency, he'll be looking to be convinced that Tottenham will remain on this path.

"They're not playing amazing football at the moment, but they are playing football that's leading to positive results and this is ultimately what he's been waiting for the whole time he's been at Tottenham."

Will Conte and Kane both sign new deals?

Despite these two poor results and the quality of their football not being great on the eye, generally, Tottenham have performed well under Conte's guidance and are heading in the right direction.

Furthermore, both Kane, who's made his best ever start to a Premier League season, and Conte, look happy and have shown little signs they're likely to jump ship.

Having said that, with no guarantee that Spurs will at least qualify for the Champions League once again, there's no certainty that either will still be at the club next season.
