Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is unlikely to survive the club's recent run of results in the long-term, according to insider Dean Jones.

Five points from Saints' last three matches has temporarily eased the pressure on the Austrian, but his position remains under serious threat.

Those set of results has seen Hasenhuttl's side climb to 15th and move three points clear of the bottom three.

Despite their improved run of form, Jones reckons that it's unlikely the Saints boss will end up keeping his job long-term.

Speaking after the Bournemouth victory, which was their first since August, he told GIVEMESPORT: "At the end of the day, it was a big result for Southampton.

"It's probably bought him a bit of time, but it's probably bought Southampton as a football club some time too, because they will be seriously weighing up now, what they do after Hasenhuttl, because the chances are it's pretty rare that you go through a spell as bad as that and come through it and survive for a long time."

What's next for Southampton?

If Hasenhuttl wants to remain in charge of Southampton longer than a couple of weeks, the next three fixtures before the World Cup could go some way to making his job safe.

But their remaining games ahead of the season pausing in mid-November are likely to test Saints to the maximum.

That's because they travel to Crystal Palace, which is never an easy game, before hosting Newcastle, who are flying high in the top four, in their final home game before Christmas.

Saints' final fixture before the tournament in Qatar is a trip to Anfield, which might not be as daunting as previous visits to Merseyside, although the Reds are unbeaten at home in the Premier League since March 2021.
