Arsenal remain interested in Youri Tielemans and the Leicester City star 'wants' to complete a switch to the Emirates Stadium, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta spent close to £120million on bolstering his squad during the summer transfer window, but he will be given another opportunity to splash the cash in January.

What's the latest news involving Tielemans?

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Arsenal could test Leicester's resolve by lodging a bid for Tielemans when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The report suggests Arteta, whose side are currently leading the way in the Premier League, does not want to become embroiled in a battle for the central midfielder's signature next summer amid additional interest from Juventus.

Tielemans will be on the radar of numerous clubs heading into 2023 as his £120,000-per-week Leicester contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

It is understood that the 25-year-old is not interested in extending his stay at the King Power Stadium and will wait until the World Cup before opening discussions with suitors.

Arsenal opted against heading to the negotiating table before the September 1 deadline despite reportedly holding internal talks over Tielemans' availability since January.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Tielemans?

Jacobs understands that Arsenal have been working behind the scenes in an attempt to get a deal for Tielemans in place.

The journalist is aware that the FA Cup winner wants to head to the capital and the Gunners' interest has not deteriorated.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: "It's an intriguing one because they've put in a lot of work for Tielemans.

"They know that Tielemans wants Arsenal, so this is not the type of transfer where Arsenal have to worry about player buying. If they move for Tielemans, then Tielemans will join Arsenal.

"But it's all about what Arsenal want, what's right for their chemistry and dynamic mid-season, if we're talking about January.

"Their interest has never gone away. It's one to watch because he's in good form now for Leicester and he's a goalscorer."

How has Tielemans performed this season?

Tielemans will want to go into the World Cup, where he is looking to add to his 54 Belgium caps, in fine form and he certainly caught the eye last weekend.

He unleashed a stunning long-range strike to put Leicester on course for a 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite uncertainty over his future, Tielemans has been involved in every match since the season got underway and also worn the captain's armband in recent weeks.

It is easy to see why Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is continuing to call upon the midfielder as, ahead of Saturday's clash with Manchester City, he had the third-best average match rating among his team-mates in the Premier League.

Tielemans also boasts a pass accuracy of 92 per cent in his own half of the pitch, which emphasises that he is comfortable in possession and would be an asset to Arsenal.
