West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice will remain eager to leave the club moving forward and the situation is unlikely to change any time soon at the London Stadium, according to journalist Paul Brown.

David Moyes oversaw more than £160 million of investment in his first-team squad in the summer but may soon have a big-name departure to deal with.

What is the latest on Rice?

According to The Telegraph, the 23-year-old is on Chelsea’s list of midfield targets alongside his England teammate Jude Bellingham as Graham Potter looks to bolster his options.

Rice has now entered the final two years of his £62,000 per-week contract in east London, although there remains an option to extend the deal by 12 months.

It was reported towards the end of last season that West Ham had attempted to tie Rice down to an ambitious eight-year contract worth £200,000 per week, something the player swiftly rejected.

Pundit Danny Murphy has recently suggested that Rice could make an ideal replacement at Liverpool for captain Jordan Henderson.

He went on to add that he feels the player could even score between 10 and 15 goals a season in Jurgen Klopp’s system.

What has Brown said on his situation?

Brown believes Rice has made it clear that he is eager to leave the London Stadium if the right offer comes in for him.

The journalist adds that it is a situation that he cannot see changing and that it is just a matter of when.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “He's made it clear several times, by rejecting a couple of offers from from West Ham, that he'd be willing to leave if the right club came along and the right offer was made to West Ham. I can't see that changing anytime soon.”

Is it time for West Ham to cash in?

It could well soon be the moment for the Hammers to have a very open and frank discussion with Rice about what he wants.

While the midfielder is likely to remain professional, choosing to extend his deal could be a misjudgment from the club if Rice is determined to leave.

West Ham are still in a strong position to claim a sizeable fee for their star man and they will not want to end up in a situation where they are accepting less than they feel he is worth.
