Manchester City will be ‘keeping an eye’ on Kylian Mbappe’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The 23-year-old has recently fended off reports suggesting he is determined to seek pastures new over the coming months, but speculation over his future continues to linger in the background.

What is the latest news involving Mbappe?

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano described Mbappe’s situation at PSG as ‘really tense’ earlier this month before stating that ‘he wants to leave the club as soon as possible’.

It was only as recently as May that the France international penned a new three-year deal after flirting with Real Madrid throughout the summer, yet several sources claimed a fallout with the board has led to a change of circumstances.

That forced Mbappe to speak publicly regarding the situation, and the World Cup winner stated that he has ‘not asked to leave’ the Parc des Princes despite what some reports have suggested.

“I have not asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January. I’m not furious with the club, it’s not true,” he told RMCsport after seeing off bitter rivals Marseille.

What has Sheth said about Mbappe?

When asked by GiveMeSport if City and Liverpool should be taking a close look at Mbappe’s situation, Sheth stated that he believed ‘every big club in European football’ will be doing so.

He said: “Not just those two clubs. I think every big club in European football would want an Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe in their team, of course they would.

“And I'm sure these clubs are keeping an eye on that situation at Paris Saint-Germain. The interesting thing that Kylian Mbappe did was, it was only a three-year contract that he signed with PSG.

“So, in modern football, when players get down to two years of their contract, suddenly the talk of ‘is this player going to move?’ already rears its head.”

How well is Mbappe playing this season?

Mbappe has racked up 214 goals in 293 senior club games for PSG and AS Monaco with 16 of those strikes coming in his 16 appearances across all competitions this season, leading to him being labelled 'unstoppable'.

As per WhoScored, the immensely talented star has also averaged 4.5 shots, two key passes and 1.8 dribbles per top-flight fixture throughout 2022/23, placing him in the top three for each metric when compared to his teammates.

The prospect of Mbappe linking up with the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne would surely be a terrifying prospect for any opposition that City come up against.
