Leeds United will find it hard to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in January, believes journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Whites are one club who are thought to be interested in the 24-year-old, but O'Rourke thinks bringing him to Elland Road will be a difficult task.

What is the latest news involving McKennie?

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Leeds, Chelsea and Tottenham are just a few Premier League sides who are looking at McKennie right now.

The American, who joined Juventus permanently in a deal worth £16m last year (via MailOnline), has been an important player for the Old Lady this season.

He has played in practically all of their Serie A games so far and has started the majority of their Champions League fixtures, including the recent 4-3 defeat to Benfica.

McKennie was able to get on the scoresheet on the night but, in the end, it was not enough to stop his side from being eliminated from the competition.

What has O'Rourke said about McKennie and Leeds?

While O'Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT in the past that he thinks McKennie would be an "impressive signing" for Leeds, the journalist doubts they can actually pull it off.

Speaking to GMS, he said: "I think it'd be quite a hard deal to do. Wages and possibly the price tag as well might be out of Leeds' price range, and I'm sure there will be other clubs also interested in Weston McKennie if Juventus do decide to try and sell him in the January window."

Where is McKennie most likely to end up if he does leave Juventus?

Jesse Marsch would probably love for his compatriot to join him at Elland Road in January.

McKennie is a very capable midfielder, with USA legend Clint Dempsey recently praising him for the energy he brings to the pitch and the threat he poses from set-pieces.

"He does bring that energy and, at the same time, he's always been someone, for club and country, dangerous on the set-pieces or crosses," the former Tottenham and Fulham star said last month.

However, with the likes of Spurs and Chelsea circling, you would have to say that they are more likely destinations than Leeds for McKennie, who has been described as a "leader" by former manager David Wagner.

There is also nothing to suggest that Juventus will even let him go in January, so there are a lot of things going against Leeds.

Is it impossible? No, and Leeds have nothing to lose by targeting McKennie. But all things considered, signing the USA international is not going to be easy.
