Newcastle United are ‘one of the clubs’ that would be willing to end Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea turmoil, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old has struggled for regular game time throughout his three-and-a-half-year spell in west London since arriving for £58 million and was linked with pastures new over the summer window.

What is the latest news involving Pulisic?

Back in August, The Athletic revealed that Newcastle were eyeing up several of Chelsea’s fringe stars as potential loan targets in the final weeks of the transfer window.

It states that the availability of Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher and Callum Hudson-Odoi were discussed alongside Pulisic, although the Blues ultimately decided they weren’t prepared to offload him on a temporary basis.

Reporter Simon Phillips previously informed GiveMeSport that Newcastle ‘were a lot closer to signing’ Pulisic than fellow potential suitors Juventus, though, yet Chelsea ‘only wanted to sell him permanently if they were going to let him go’.

And Spanish sources (via The Chronicle) have recently claimed that the Magpies are once again at the front of the queue for the USA international’s signature.

What has Jones said about Pulisic?

Pulisic, who was labelled 'crazy' by teammate Hakim Ziyech, was one of several attacking players who were reportedly eager to depart Chelsea in the previous transfer window due to a lack of consistent opportunities.

Jones has now informed GMS that Newcastle would be ‘willing to take advantage’ of the winger’s desire if he still feels the same way in January.

He said: “So, I think by the time we get to January, if it looks like there's no way for him to be a regular in that Chelsea team, he'll have to consider his options, and Newcastle are one of the clubs that would be willing to take advantage of that.”

Where would Pulisic fit in at Newcastle?

Pulisic is comfortable on either flank but has predominantly lined up on the right-hand side throughout his career, and that is arguably where Newcastle need to strengthen the most in attack.

The outstanding form of Miguel Almiron this season has eased the need to bolster that area of the pitch immediately, though, but it’s still a position that Eddie Howe may desire further strength in depth.

With Allan Saint-Maximin occupying the left-wing, Callum Wilson starring upfront and Alexander Isak able to slot in across the forward line, a natural right-sided star would surely be warmly welcomed at St James’ Park.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle do follow up their interest in Pulisic and are willing to match his £150,000-per-week wage packet that he takes home at present.
