Current World Cup champions France will be hoping to win the tournament back to back and GiveMeSport have predicted how the country could set up when they kick off in Qatar.

With a huge plethora of talent, it is hard for manager and former French player Didier Deschamps to pick a squad for the competition, let alone a starting XI.

No doubt a lot of people will be expecting France to win the World Cup due to their quality; however, it will be a lot harder for them as teams will set up a lot more defensively in order to contain them.

With so many world-class players, the France team is very exciting to watch, and they will terrify the teams they face.

Who could France in the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup?

With so much quality, it is hard to predict the starting XI; however, with current Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema injured, as well as other world-class stars Christopher Nkunku out, predicting the teamsheet is made a little easier.

France comfortably beat Poland 3-1 in the last 16 of the World Cup. Olivier Giroud scored to become France's record goal scorer, and Kylian Mbappe scored two amazing goals. We do not expect Les Bleus to change their team much from this much.

It is also a squad that should easily beat any team that threatens to be a dark horse in the 2022 World Cup.

Here is GiveMeSport's predicted starting XI for the World Cup:

Update 18th November: France will be slightly weaker than expected as there are already some injury problems within their 26-man squad. Christopher Nkunku suffered an injury in training and will now miss the World Cup, whilst Karim Benzema is still nursing an injury and may not be fit for this first match.

Update 21st November: It has now been confirmed that Benzema will miss the World Cup like Nkunku. To cover for this, Didier Deschamps has called up just one player - Randal Kolo Muani. Two huge attackers will be missing for France and this has definitely made the tournament a little bit harder for the European nation.

Update 29th November: France have qualified for the knockouts stages with a game in hand and will therefore no doubt rest some of their key players for the upcoming match vs Tunisia.

Update 2nd December: France are now in the last 16 of the World Cup and face Poland. They rested players and lost vs Tunisia, so no doubt Deschamps will be picking his favourites again ahead of this huge match.

Update 13th December: France has been on fire, but Dayot Upamecano and Aurelien Tchouameni will face late fitness tests ahead of the match. We believe they will start.

There were hopes that Paul Pogba could force himself back into the squad; however he picked up another injury on 1st November which means he will be out of the tournament. N'Golo Kante also looks set to miss out due to injury.

With the games coming thick and fast during the tournament, there will be a lot of rotation, so the whole of the 25-man squad will be used.
