Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry are two of the greatest strikers in football history.

Throughout the late 1990s, 2000s and early 2010s, the two scored goals for fun and each won a plethora of trophies as well.

Henry is Arsenal's record scorer with 228 goals and is widely regarded by football fans as the Premier League's finest ever player.

As for Eto'o, he scored 130 times in 199 appearances for Barcelona and famously won back-to-back trebles, first with the Blaugrana and then at Inter Milan.

Eto'o and Henry played together at Barcelona

The two supremely-gifted strikers shared a dressing room at Barcelona for one season in 2008/09 - and were part of a treble-winning team under Pep Guardiola's rule.

They were both exceptional that campaign alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.

So you'd think that they'd speak glowingly about one another in the present day, right? Well, that's not really the case.

Eto'o doesn't think Henry was as good as him

In new footage from a documentary broadcast by Booska-P, Eto'o is asked about Henry's career and boldly claims that France's all-time leading scorer wasn't at the same level as Nicolas Anelka.

"I think he [Henry] was not at the level of Nicolas Anelka. Thierry Henry was good, but I knew players... I preferred other players," Eto'o said, as per French publication Foot Mercato.

"In any case, he was not at my level. The luck or the bad luck that I had me, was not to play for France. Those who played in France had plus 70 per cent. It's not because they were strong, but because France sells them better.

"They sold them to us and brought them up to our level..."

Interesting, very interesting.

Shortly before Henry signed for Barcelona, Eto'o seemed to make it obvious that he and the Frenchman were good friends, while also making it clear that his place in the team was not up for grabs in the process.

"That is not my problem," Eto'o said at the time when asked about the rumours linking Henry with a switch to Camp Nou. "It is Frank Rijkaard's one.

"Some journalists wanted to create tension between 'Titi' and me. I am laughing. I have 'Titi' on the phone all the time. If he comes to Barca, thinking he will put Samuel Eto'o on the bench, I say 'no'. We will play together. We will be team-mates.

"I do not enter any controversy. I would like the coach to sign 'Titi'. He is my friend."

What's changed, Samuel?
