For the very first time, Virgil van Dijk has lost a Premier League match at Anfield while wearing a Liverpool shirt.

It's quite remarkable that the record remained intact for as long as 70 games (around four and a half years), but Leeds United made the Dutchman finally taste defeat on Saturday evening.

Jesse Marsch's side took the lead early on in the match through Rodrigo Moreno, the Spaniard taking advantage of a huge mix-up between Joe Gomez and Alisson Becker.

Liverpool levelled the scores at 1-1 soon after through Mohamed Salah, which is only his fourth goal in the Premier League so far this season.

But Jurgen Klopp's side couldn't really build on their equaliser and in the second half, Leeds kept them at bay with relative ease for the most part - aside from a few marvellous saves by Illan Meslier on Darwin Nunez.

And then in the 89th minute, the visitors moved 2-1 ahead thanks to a goal from birthday boy Crysencio Summerville, who turns 21 on Sunday.

Leeds' attack capitalised on some more lax defending from Liverpool and when Summerville was presented with the chance gifted to him by Patrick Bamford, he duly fired the ball past a diving Alisson.

To say it was pandemonium in the away end would be something of an understatement...

Scenes, absolute scenes at Anfield!

Summerville whipped off his shirt in celebration and he won't care one bit about the yellow card he received from the referee as a result of that act.

Leeds are now out of the bottom three after securing victory on Merseyside and it's a result that may very well have saved Marsch's job - for now at least.

Liverpool are now closer to the relegation zone than the top

For Liverpool, it's another low point in a season that fans probably want to see end as soon as possible.

The Reds now sit on 16 points, which is only five more than Leicester City in 18th and a whopping 13 less than table-toppers Manchester City.

Perhaps the only silver lining for Liverpool is their form in the Champions League. They've won four on the bounce in Europe after losing 4-1 away from home against Napoli.

But in the Premier League, it's been a different story completely and up next for Klopp's team is a trip to Tottenham Hotspur, which certainly won't be an easy assignment...
