West Ham United are keeping tabs on Middlesbrough star Isaiah Jones and he would be 'a nice addition' to David Moyes' squad at the London Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Despite spending more than £160million during the summer transfer window, Hammers boss Moyes will be given another opportunity to bolster his options at the turn of the year.

What's the latest news involving Jones?

According to Football League World, West Ham and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are showing a keen interest in Jones.

However, the report suggests it will be difficult for either of the London clubs to get a deal over the line as Middlesbrough have no intention of allowing the wing-back, who has made 64 appearances for his current employers, to leave midway through the campaign.

The Championship side are also under no pressure to sell Jones as his contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2025.

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and reigning Eredivisie champions Ajax, along with Arsenal, also showed an interest in the 23-year-old earlier this year.

Jones has made 16 appearances since the season got underway, registering two goals and three assists along the way.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones understands that West Ham and Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for the Middlesbrough star.

The journalist feels Jones has not been in top form during the early stages of the 2022/23 campaign, but that has not stopped the clubs mulling over whether to test Boro's resolve.

When asked whether the talent would be a shrewd signing, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "It would be a nice addition.

"Palace and West Ham have been following Isaiah Jones most closely. He hasn't been quite at his best recently."

Would Jones be a good signing for West Ham?

The right hand-side of the backline has become a problem position for West Ham, with Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson struggling to nail down a regular starting spot.

It has resulted in Thilo Kehrer, who was initially brought in as a central defender when he completed a £10.1million switch from Paris Saint-Germain in August, filling in on several occasions.

Jones may be the answer to Moyes' problems as he has been described as 'fantastic' by Middlesbrough team-mate Dael Fry.

He has been Boro's best performer since the Championship season kicked off - averaging a match rating of 6.86 - and West Ham should head to the negotiating table in January.
