When did Brazil last win the World Cup? How many times have they won the competition? Find out everything you need to know right here.

The South American giants are one of the most successful nations in World Cup history but they have somewhat struggled in recent tournaments.

While they will go into the 2022 tournament as one of the favourites, due to the presence of Neymar, Vinicius Jr, and Richarlison, they have some ghosts to exorcise in Qatar.

In 2018, they reached the quarter-finals, and were ultimately beaten by Belgium, while in 2014, they ended up being humiliated in the semi-finals by Germany, losing 7-1 in front of their own fans.

In both 2010 and 2006, they also reached the quarter-finals, losing to Netherlands and France respectively.

While a new competition is awaiting, it’s been a few years of hurt for Brazil.

Brazil last won the World Cup in 2002.

They had a truly ridiculous squad at the tournament in Japan and South Korea, featuring the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Roberto Carlos.

They eased through the tournament and even beat England en route to the final, beating them 2-1 thanks to Ronaldinho’s looping free-kick over David Seaman.

Brazil went on to beat Turkey 1-0 in the semi-final, and then a Ronaldo brace gave them a 2-0 win over Germany in the final.

They won every game at the tournament, and were crowned deserved champions at the end of it.

Brazil have won the World Cup five times.

They first won the tournament in 1958 in Sweden and followed that up with another success four years later in 1962.

They were shockingly eliminated in the group stages in 1966 but recovered to win the tournament in 1970 in Mexico.

They had to wait until 1994 to win the trophy again, and were victorious most recently in 2002.

Brazil have also twice reached the final and lost; in 1950, in their home country, and in 1998, in France.
