Leicester City could sign the ideal partner for Wout Faes after the World Cup in the form of Cameroon centre-back Christopher Wooh, according to Ed Aarons of The Guardian.

Brendan Rodgers oversaw a summer of low spending at the King Power Stadium and will be hoping to strengthen his charges at the turn of the year.

What is the latest from Leicester?

The Foxes have slipped back into the relegation zone in the Premier League following their defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

It means that Rodgers has seen his side lose eight times this season after playing just 13 matches, the joint most in the top flight along with Nottingham Forest.

One rare bright spark for them this season has been summer signing Faes, who made the move from Reims for £15 million

After putting pen to paper, the Belgian described completing the deal as ‘amazing’, adding that it was a ‘dream step’ in his career.

The 24-year-old ranks top for Leicester for tackles made per match with 2.9, as per WhoScored?, and his average of one interception is only beaten by Jonny Evans of current defenders.

What has Aarons said on a move for Wooh?

Aarons says that Wooh could prove to be an ideal partner for Faes at the heart of Leicester’s defence moving forward.

The journalist adds that the Cameroonian would be able to bring aggression that is perhaps lacking at present.

Aarons told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Leicester have done well with Wout Faes coming in. He looks good. But somebody a bit more aggressive alongside him might be a good combination.”

Would Wooh be a good signing?

Wooh only made the move to Rennes during the summer transfer window after an £8.5 million deal was agreed with Lens.

He has played every minute of the club’s last three Ligue 1 outings and also found the net against Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League.

The 21-year-old’s impressive displays of 2022 have not gone unnoticed by Cameroon manager Rigobert Song either, who handed Wooh his national debut against Burundi back in June.

While Faes has impressed since his arrival, Rodgers is not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to his partners.

Evans is now 34 while Caglar Soyuncu has seen his form take a sharp dip over the past year. Jannik Vestergaard does not appear to have the trust of his manager either having not played a minute of top-flight action this season.
