Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams ‘really loves the fan base’ and is unlikely to leave the club anytime soon, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old only joined Leeds from RB Leipzig in a £20 million deal over the summer but has already been linked with a shock switch to rivals Manchester United following a string of impressive displays.

What is the latest news involving Adams?

Football Insider have claimed that the Red Devils are ‘keeping close tabs’ on Adams, a player who they are said to have a ‘long-time interest’ in dating back to his Leipzig days.

It’s believed that United are ‘continuing to monitor’ the USA international as they shortlist potential central midfield targets.

Adams signed a five-year contract upon his arrival at Leeds, leaving the west Yorkshire outfit in an extremely strong position around the negotiating table should United make a formal approach.

Erik ten Hag spent the majority of last summer chasing Frenkie de Jong without any success and may have identified Adams as an alternative option to the Barcelona ace.

What has Jones said about Adams?

Jones believes that the chances of Adams swapping life at Elland Road for Old Trafford are ‘very, very small’ and that the engine room operator is loved by the fans.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “I think that the chances of him joining United and leaving Leeds are very, very small. I think that all the time that Jesse Marsch is at Leeds, Tyler Adams will be at Leeds.

“I know he really appreciated the platform; he thinks it’s a good club for him, he really loves the fan base, and the fans love him.”

How well has Adams been performing?

Adams has made 11 appearances for Leeds in the Premier League so far, failing to produce any goals or assists, although his overall performance levels have been impressive.

As per WhoScored, the defensive-minded dynamo has averaged four tackles per top-flight fixture, the highest tally of amongst his teammates who have started over one game, while also averaging 1.4 interceptions, 0.4 blocks, and 1.7 long balls.

Those figures place Adams fifth when compared to his Leeds colleagues, illustrating how central he is to the success of Jesse Marsch’s charges.

A Leeds departure appears to be unlikely for Adams at present, and Marsch will surely be desperate to retain the services of his compatriot for the foreseeable future.
