Darren Till has revealed images of a nasty eye injury he’s suffering from just weeks ahead of his UFC 282 return.

For so long now, Darren Till has been seen as a real prospect at both welterweight and middleweight - but for whatever reason, he hasn’t been able to find any real consistency in either division.

The quality is certainly there and that much is clear for all to see, but turning those abilities into results has always been a blind spot for ‘The Gorilla’.

Now, after months of training with Khamzat Chimaev and over a year away from the Octagon, the 29-year-old is hoping to go on his best run yet at 185 pounds.

He’ll collide with Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282 in what should serve as a really intriguing test of his skills, and with Israel Adesanya defending the gold just a few weeks prior, you’d have to think there’s a chance for him to shoot up the rankings.

More setbacks for Till?

As we know, one of the things that Till has struggled with in years gone by has been injuries - and unfortunately for him, they may well be rearing their ugly head once again.

The former title challenger recently took to social media in order to show off how training is going but in addition to that, he also wanted to draw attention to a rough eye injury that he has sustained.

We can’t imagine he’d be posting it on Instagram if it was bad enough for him to drop out of the bout, but it’s definitely something worth keeping an eye on (pun not intended).

A big challenge

In September 2021, Darren Till’s issues really came to the forefront when he was defeated by Derek Brunson in a contest that didn’t exactly show the Liverpudlian at his very best.

This time around it’ll be former KSW champion Dricus du Plessis that stands across the cage from him and once again, this isn’t someone you can overlook.

Since entering the UFC, the South African star has gone 3-0 with two of those victories coming via knockout.

He has great hands on the feet so, at the very least, we should anticipate a strong stand-up war, unless Till has a few new grappling tricks up his sleeve courtesy of ‘Borz’.
