West Ham United will hold discussions over Manuel Lanzini's London Stadium future ahead of the transfer window reopening for business in January, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The creative midfielder has been on the Hammers' books since initially joining on loan from United Arab Emirates side Al-Jazira seven years ago, but there are question marks over whether he will be at the club for much longer.

What's the latest news involving Lanzini?

According to Football Insider, West Ham are willing to sell Lanzini for £10million when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The report suggests the Hammers are looking to raise funds after spending more than £160million during the summer and, in a bid to get players off the wage bill, the 29-year-old could be sacrificed by boss David Moyes.

It comes just a matter of months after Lanzini, who cost West Ham £9million when he joined on a permanent basis in 2016, was handed an opportunity to walk away from the capital.

That is because the Argentinian was reportedly told that he was free to find a new club, either on loan or permanently, ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Lanzini is set to enter the final six months of his £70,000-per-week contract in January, but West Ham hold an option to extend the agreement by two years.

What has Dean Jones said about Lanzini?

Jones has doubts over whether Lanzini will want to remain at West Ham after being restricted to just one start since the Premier League season got underway.

But, with him featuring regularly in the Europa Conference League, the transfer insider feels the Hammers will hold discussions over the former River Plate man's future in the coming weeks.

When asked whether Lanzini could leave West Ham after becoming a bit-part player in the Premier League, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I guess the question is whether he is happy with that role and that's probably a different matter.

"One thing playing in the Europa Conference League has done is it's helped to keep him in form and in condition for when his chances come in the Premier League.

"But I think, before January, the club will have had talks with him and will know whether he's going to push for a transfer."

Should West Ham keep Lanzini beyond January?

Having clinched top spot in Group B, West Ham know that knockout football in the Europa Conference League is on the horizon.

There is no doubt that Lanzini, who has scored both of his goals since the season got underway in the competition, could play a vital role in the latter stages.

The South American has registered close to 60 goal contributions during his time in east London and he is still a major threat in the final third of the pitch despite gradually moving down the pecking order in the Premier League.

With that being the case, West Ham would be wise to hold onto Lanzini and potentially activate the two-year option written into the five-cap Argentina international's contract.
