Leeds United would likely consider an approach for Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou if they did decide to sack Jesse Marsch at some point this season, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Marsch oversaw a summer spend of more than £90 million but has endured a turbulent 2022-23 campaign at Elland Road.

What is the latest on Marsch?

The American admitted that his side had ‘stopped the bleeding’ after pulling off a shock 2-1 victory away to Liverpool on Saturday night.

Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville found the target either side of a Mohamed Salah strike at Anfield to significantly ease the pressure that had been building on Marsch.

Prior to the clash, Leeds had gone eight matches without a win in the Premier League and were slipping perilously towards the foot of the table.

But Marsch may not be out of the woods just yet. After their next clash with Bournemouth, Leeds face three of the current top four in the form of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Newcastle United.

What has Jones said on the situation?

Jones believes that, if Leeds do find themselves in a situation where they want to replace Marsch, they will likely look north of the border.

The journalist suggests that Celtic manager Postecoglou will probably be considered by the powers that be at Elland Road.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “If they do have to change manager, it'll be the names that get linked with all the other jobs at the moment, and Postecoglou, and people like that, will probably be in the frame too.”

Would Postecoglou be a good appointment?

The Australian took over managerial duties at Parkhead in the summer of 2021 and led Celtic to instant success, claiming Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup titles in his first campaign.

In his 79 matches in charge, he has racked up an impressive average of 2.2 points per game and, once again, has his side sitting top of the league.

Postecoglou has also taken Celtic back into the Champions League group stages, competing against the likes of Real Madrid and RB Leipzig in the process.

It is easy to see why that experience would appeal to Leeds and, with his rolling contract set to expire at the end of the season, he could well be a realistic target.
