Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of Max Aarons as the Norwich City star 'couldn't turn down' a move to Old Trafford, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Red Devils spent close to £220million during the summer transfer window, but Erik ten Hag will be handed another opportunity to splash the cash at the turn of the year.

What's the latest news involving Aarons?

Manchester United are weighing up whether to test Norwich's resolve and make a January bid for long-term target Aarons.

The right-back is reportedly valued at £15million and ten Hag, who was appointed as the club's boss following the conclusion of last season, wants to provide Diogo Dalot with competition.

Aarons is due to enter the final 18 months of his £22,500-per-week contract at the turn of the year, meaning it could be an ideal time for Norwich to cash-in.

The 22-year-old started all of the Canaries' Championship fixtures since the start of the season before being dropped to the bench for the 3-1 win over Stoke City last month.

It is understood that Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Roma have also been admirers of Aarons.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Aarons?

O'Rourke believes Aarons would not have a difficult decision to make if Manchester United head to the negotiating table in the coming months.

The journalist feels it would be impossible for the defender to snub a move to Old Trafford as he seeks a way back into the top flight.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "I think it would be a no-brainer for Max Aarons if Manchester United came calling for him.

"He wants to be playing in the Premier League and he doesn't want to be playing in the Championship.

"He's got really big aspirations and he's been linked with a number of top clubs over the years, so I think the opportunity to go to Old Trafford would be something he couldn't turn down."

Would Aarons be a good signing for Manchester United?

Some would see Aarons as being a risky signing considering he has already suffered two Premier League relegations having only made 70 appearances in the competition.

But statistics show that the 20-cap England under-21 international could be a shrewd investment from Manchester United's point of view.

That is because, while in the Premier League last season, Aarons averaged more assists and blocks than Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, so it is clear that he can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Manchester United should jump at the chance to bring the exciting two-time Championship title winner to Old Trafford if Norwich are open to sanctioning his departure.
