Some Liverpool fans might already be wishing that the 2022/23 season was confined to the history books.

Okay, maybe that's a little extreme, but there's no denying that Kopites were expecting more from their team so far than ninth place in the Premier League and the runners-up spot in their Champions League group.

It's not all bad by any means and Jurgen Klopp could flip the mood at the club on its head with just a couple of wins, but supporters would be naive to say that it was all sunshine and rainbows on Merseyside right now.

What are Liverpool's plans for 2023/24?

So, who knows, perhaps there is some solace to find in looking a little further into the future and the potential for slightly brighter prospects in the 2023/24 campaign.

While it might seem barmy to think about next season when the Premier League hasn't even paused for the World Cup yet, rest assured that certain departments in and around Anfield will already have one eye on what's coming next.

A well-run football club can operate with the intricacy of a Swiss watch and we'd be shocked if there wasn't great swathes of Liverpool staff already laying down plans for 2023/24.

However, even if we're wrong and potential transfers - as well as other less exciting admin tasks - aren't already being bounded about for next season, then future Liverpool plans are most certainly being laid down at Nike headquarters.

That's because, quite remarkably, Liverpool fans can already get a sneak peek of what their home kit for the 2023/24 campaign is going to look like.

What does Liverpool's 2023/24 home kit look like?

Although it might feel as though the current batch of Nike designs only hit the clothing rails the other week, the kit experts over at Footy Headlines - who seldom ever get things wrong with their leaks - are already on the case with their latest intel for 2023/24.

That's because they corroborated leaked photographs by Twitter user @KB2X, confirming that the design is "the Liverpool FC 2023-24 home shirt" and "will be worn in next season's Premier League campaign".

Very exciting news for Liverpool fans then, so be sure to check out the snaps that have emerged so far as it could well be the kit in which the Reds win their latest batch of silverware under Klopp.

A throwback to 1990s Liverpool

Like the current Liverpool home shirt, Nike have kept things relatively simple, using a two-tone colourway of "gym red" and white within the same Nike Dri-Fit ADV template as this season's third strip.

The design is, of course, reminiscent of the Reebok jersey that Liverpool wore between 1998 and 2000 with its gorgeous incorporation of a white crew neck and cuffs.

Plus, that 1990s classic synonymous with the likes of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and a young Steven Gerrard was itself based on classic designs from the 1960s and 1970s.

So, although Nike have once again pulled up the handbrake by not going overboard with their tweaks and changes to Liverpool's iconic home kit, you've got to say that the early evidence of their 2023/24 design goes to show they've smashed it.
