Just over 13 years on from becoming WBA heavyweight champion of the world, David Haye took some time yesterday to share his fat cutting fitness routine ahead of the Christmas period. The former heavyweight and cruiserweight champion has taken some time away from his regular training routine in the last three months in order to live like ‘everybody else.’In his tweet, Haye claimed that in this period, he hasn’t been exercising or training and has been eating and drinking like a typical adult. The results, as shown in the video, are staggering.

David Haye's reverse body transformation

Since stopping his routine, Haye’s body fat has more than doubled from 10% to 22.5%. In terms of actual weight gain, he has gained 6.5kg, or one stone, with the results being most notable around his core.

At this moment, his figure is certainly more representative of a classic dad bod rather than his usual chiselled physique.

For the 42-year-old, these last three months, and the eight weeks to come, are somewhat of an experiment.

Firstly, these three months have shown Haye the importance of his regular routine to maintain his ideal body weight and fat percentage. Secondly, Haye is aiming to inspire others to join him in his weight cutting goal ahead of the Christmas period in a programme he has dubbed ‘fat to fit in eight weeks.’

As of yet, the retired boxer hasn’t provided too much information on how this schedule will look, but you can sign up for future updates on his website in order to join Haye on his programme.

Judging by the video posted by Haye, this routine is likely to involve 4-5, one-hour sessions per week; the routine Haye usually lives by.

The aim of this whole process is to show that Haye’s regular body is far from favourable genetics as he claims people have said in the past, but instead, a result of sensible eating and a consistent exercise routine.

Haye’s personal aim is to return to his 10% body fat measurement by January 1, by losing 1.5% of body fat per week, for eight weeks. It might sound a considerable ordeal, but judging by his past, you couldn’t ask for a better guide on a weight loss journey.

Over the next eight weeks, we’ll see how effective Haye’s programme will be, but for us ‘mere mortals,’ it is certainly encouraging to imagine that a body such as Haye’s can be achieved through a few simple lifestyle changes.

Clearly exercise is key and although not everyone has time for an hour of exercise, 4-5 times a week, it is an achievable goal and one to strive for.
