Rotherham vs Norwich may not have been the clash that caught the eye on the English footballing calendar this weekend.

The tussle, which pitted fourth in the Championship against 17th, still presented an opportunity for both sides to clinch what could prove to be a valuable three points.

Norwich, looking to bounce straight back into the Premier League, had begun to fall off the pace with Burnley streaking ahead at the top of the table.

Rotherham, meanwhile, would have been hoping to create a bit more of a buffer between them and the dreaded drop zone.

Sadly for the home side, it the Canaries who would claim the lot thanks to goals either side of halftime.

Norwich clinch a valuable victory

Having gone behind, Rotherham came out firing in the second half as they fired home a crucial equaliser a few minutes into the second stanza.

That joy, however, was painfully short-lived as Norwich went ahead again through an Aaron Ramsey goal just a minute later.

However, while a Ramsey goal would normally be the headline grabber, social media was awash with videos of a separate moment from the game.

Rotherham fan goes viral for actions before a throw in

One particular clip completely blew up with online fans absolutely loving the actions of one heroic fan who was at the stadium.

With Rotherham rushing to take a throw with a wet and soapie ball the fan in question quickly offered up his jumper in the absence of a towel.

Wes Harding was only to happy to oblige, catching the flying garment and giving the ball a thorough drying before chucking it back to the sacrificial fan.

It makes for brilliant viewing and it's no surprise that the footage has gone viral on social media.

You can check it out for yourself in the clip below:

Brilliant. Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

Sadly, as mentioned earlier, even the selfless antics of the fan could do little to prevent another Rotherham loss.

Ultimately, he would have been forced to watch his side go down, all while wearing what probably became a very chilly and damp hoodie.

Still, you simply can't fault the quickness of thought as well as the willingness of Harding to accept the help.
