Two Boca Juniors players and one from Racing - Sebastian Villa, Johan Carbonero and Alan Varela - had already been sent off by this point.

Alcaraz then became the fourth player to receive a red card, before six - yes, six! - more players followed him down the tunnel for an early bath.

Footage of Tello dishing out red cards left, right and centre is extraordinary.

A total of seven Boca players were sent off during the ten additional minutes of extra-time. Three Racing players were also dismissed.

This has to be one of the craziest ends to a game in football history.

Who is referee Facundo Tello?

Tello, a 40-year-old who has been a listed international referee for FIFA since 2019, has been officiating in Argentina’s top division since 2013.

He was named on the 2022 FIFA World Cup’s Referee List back in May and is one of six South American referees travelling to the tournament.

Per the Daily Mail, Tello has dished out 612 yellow cards and 45 reds during his 118 matches in Argentina’s Primera Division.

In September, Tello sent off three players and issued a further six yellow cards during a fixture between Racing and Club Atletico Platense.

Make a note of the World Cup games that Tello is taking charge of this winter. It seems we’ll be guaranteed some drama.
