Davante Adams has been left fuming at the way the Las Vegas Raiders have played this season following their latest loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This was meant to be the year that the Las Vegas Raiders were going to take a step forward as a team, after making it into the playoffs last year despite some disruption off the field when it came to head coach John Gruden, they brought in two men who were meant to take them to the next level.

On one hand you had head coach Josh McDaniels, who whilst he has been a head coach in the league before and didn’t do so great as he went 11-17 with the Denver Broncos, was the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots during a large spell of their dynasty years and could hopefully work his magic in Sin City.

And one of the key pieces that was going to help him do that was wide receiver Davante Adams, who has every right to call himself the best receiver in the league as he was named the lone wide receiver in the Madden 23 ‘99 club this year, whilst also leading the league in touchdowns and yards per game in 2020 with 18 and 98.1 respectively and racking up a career-best 1,553 receiving yards in 2021, being named First-team All-Pro in both seasons.

Combine that with the fact Adams would be playing with quarterback Derek Carr, who he played with in college at Fresno State, and this looked like a promising year for the Raiders. Sadly though, that hasn’t been the case.

Las Vegas Raiders left reeling after shocking results

The Raiders currently find themselves at 2-6 and staring down the barrel at possibly putting up a losing season for the eighth time in the past eleven seasons going back to 2012, and the stats that surround the team aren’t exactly all that promising either.

They currently rank 24th in total yards, and 18th in passing yards and 19th in points scored, which considering the options they have at their disposal, not just Adams, is kind of a sad indictment of just how bad they have been this season in generating any kind of threat on offense.

What is perhaps more annoying for the Raiders though is how close the games have been, as five of their losses have been by 7 points or less, and that anger might just be reflected in Adams’ comments after their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As quoted by ESPN after the Raiders blew a 17-point lead to give the Jaguars just their 3rd win of the season, Adams was incensed with how things have played out this season, stating:

There's no reason why we should be losing games like this, and it's frustrating. If we played for a s---ty team, then it's one thing. But that's not what it is.

Given that the Raiders are currently some way back in the standings and looking unlikely to grab a playoff spot, you wonder if it’s even worth them trying to fix their problems this year and instead putting all their attention into putting a better product on the field in 2023 instead.
