Brazil, the most successful nation in World Cup history, has announced its squad for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

The Selecao are looking in formidable shape heading into FIFA's first ever winter edition despite having underwhelmed with quarter-final exits in 2006, 2010 and 2018, as well as semi-final humiliation in 2014, since their last triumph in 2002.

However, there's good reason to think that Tite's side will be there or thereabouts this time around because to say that their squad is stacked would be the mother of all understatements.

Brazil's astonishing squad depth

Over the last couple of years, France have been the talk of the town when it comes to outrageous squad depth and while that's still the case to a large extent, Brazil are giving them a serious run for their money right now.

It feels as though there's hardly a top team in men's football that doesn't have a stellar Brazilian player - poised to make a real impact at FIFA's showpiece event - at the very heart of it at the moment.

And after months of speculation as to who Tite will choose amongst the endless depths of talent at his finger tips, the rabbit is finally out of the hat with Brazil's squad revealed to the world on Monday.

Brazil's Tite announces his squad.

Tough choices for Tite to make

Mixing a stellar cocktail of experienced stars like Thiago Silva, Neymar and Dani Alves with thrilling young talents such as Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, the powers that be in the Brazil set-up seem to have struck gold with their selection.

Plus, the forever-exciting Gabriel Martinelli got the nod in the end despite rumours swirling around that even his electric performances for Arsenal wouldn't be enough to secure him a seat on the plane.

However, it's his Arsenal teammate and namesake Gabriel who will have to watch the tournament from home, while other Brazilian stars will also have been left disappointed such is the fierce level of competition right now.

Who have Brazil picked in their squad?

But without further ado, it's time for supporters of any country other than Brazil to start feeling miserable as they read through the squad that the five-time winners are taking to Qatar:

Full-backs: Dani Alves (UNAM), Danilo (Juventus), Alex Sandro (Juventus), Alex Telles (Sevilla)

Centre-backs: Gleison Bremer (Juventus), Eder Militão (Real Madrid), Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain), Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

Midfielders: Casemiro (Manchester United), Éverton Ribeiro (Flamengo), Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle United), Fabinho (Liverpool), Fred (Manchester United), Lucas Paquetá (West Ham United)

Is there any stopping Brazil?

Just start carving their name in the trophy already.

You know your depth is incredible when there's no place for Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, who has been playing some of his best football for years this season with eight goals and four assists in 18 appearances.

And lest we forget that Firmino has been something of a regular for Brazil since the 2014 World Cup having amassed 55 caps and 17 goals even throughout his less prolific spells at Anfield.

However, such has been the head-spinning level of competition to get a place in Tite's squad this year that missing out truly isn't a slight on players like Firmino and Gabriel, whose late pushes for selection ultimately came in vain.

Firmino looks gutted while playing for Brazil.

World Cups aren't won on paper, it must be said, but Brazil would already be champions if it was.
