West Ham United is a possible Premier League destination for Ben Brereton Diaz and he is set for 'a big moment' when Blackburn Rovers head to the London Stadium on Wednesday, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Although Hammers boss David Moyes spent close to £160million during the summer window, he will be presented with another opportunity to splash the cash in January.

What's the latest news involving Brereton Diaz?

According to Football Insider, West Ham are plotting a move for Brereton Diaz during the early stages of 2023.

The report suggests the east Londoners have been keeping tabs on the 17-cap Chile international for a prolonged period and sent scouts to watch him in Blackburn's 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Brereton Diaz will have gained a glowing review as he scored what proved to be the winner in the Championship contest, taking his tally up to nine goals for the season.

The frontman has rejected fresh terms at Ewood Park and, with his current deal expiring next summer, Crystal Palace are another club considering a January move.

Sevilla, Everton, Leeds United and Fulham are also showing an interest in Brereton Diaz, who was valued at £20million earlier this year.

What has Dean Jones said about Brereton Diaz?

Jones believes there is a strong possibility that Brereton Diaz will join West Ham if he decides to head to the Premier League during the winter window.

The journalist feels going toe-to-toe with the Hammers in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday will be the perfect opportunity for him to impress.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "If he wants to stay in England, then that's certainly one of the doors that will be open to him.

"Playing against West Ham is certainly a big moment for him because he has to perform in games like that to show that he's worthy of a good transfer."

Would Brereton Diaz be a good signing for West Ham?

Brereton Diaz has scored 49 goals over the course of his senior club career and it is clear that he is ready to make the step up from the Championship.

West Ham may have signed Gianluca Scamacca in a £35.5million deal from Sassuolo in the summer, but statistics show the Blackburn man has been in better form during the early stages of the campaign.

Brereton Diaz has averaged more goals, assists and shots on target than the Italian, which underlines that he would be an astute signing by the Hammers.

The 23-year-old finds the back of the net every 194 minutes in the Championship and, with West Ham just two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, Moyes should head to the negotiating table in January.
