Leeds United star Adam Forshaw 'is available in January' and will gain plenty of interest from Championship clubs after being put up for sale at Elland Road, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The central midfielder has been on the Yorkshire giants' books since completing a £4.5million switch from Middlesbrough in January 2018, but it seems he could be heading out of the exit door in the coming months.

What's the latest news involving Forshaw?

According to Football Insider, Leeds are willing to listen to offers for Forshaw when the January transfer window opens for business.

The report suggests the 31-year-old, who recently underwent hernia surgery, is facing an uncertain future and the Whites are looking to cash-in due to his contract situation.

Forshaw's £28,000-per-week contract is due to expire next summer, although Leeds hold an option to extend the agreement by another 12 months.

The former Brentford man has been restricted to just 47 minutes of Premier League action this season, with his most recent outing in the competition coming during the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in August.

Forshaw has made 82 appearances since arriving at Elland Road and was also a member of the squad which won the Championship title in 2020.

What has Dean Jones said about Forshaw?

Jones understands that Leeds are looking to offload Forshaw during the winter window, which will be the club's final opportunity to cash-in unless they take advantage of the one-year contract extension option.

The journalist feels the Liverpool-born ace will have plenty of suitors in the second tier during the early stages of 2023.

When asked whether it would be the right decision to sell Forshaw, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "It probably is and he is available in January. I'm told that it is true.

"There will be interest in him, particularly at the top of the Championship."

Should Leeds sell Forshaw in January?

Jesse Marsch, who was appointed as Leeds' head coach in February, made it clear that Forshaw was not at the forefront of his plans during the summer transfer window.

Having sold Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City in a £45million deal, he drafted in two fresh holding midfield options in Tyler Adams and Marc Roca.

Although it is known that former Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa loved Forshaw, having previously stated he is 'tailor-made for a Champions League team', his injury record is a concern.

He has missed more than 70 fixtures during his time with Leeds and, with that being the case, it would be wise for the club to seek a transfer fee while they can in January.
