Tomorrow, the much-anticipated World Cup mode will go live on FIFA 23 as part of over a month’s worth of content planned by EA for the biggest sporting spectacle in the world. In preparation for release, EA have been hitting us right in the nostalgia with a fan-led vote as to the greatest FIFA songs of all time. For the last week, fans have been streaming their favourite FIFA classics on Spotify with the 100 most streamed songs being added to the EA ‘Ultimate FIFA Soundtrack’.This playlist is now available on Spotify and features songs all the way from FIFA 98 to 23.To say the playlist is anything but iconic would be an understatement, with fan favourites such as Blur-Song 2, MGMT-Kids, Avicii-The Nights and Glass Animals-Heatwaves all making an appearance.Regardless of when you played FIFA, or even if you have never played at all, this soundtrack has something for you!In addition to the Spotify soundtrack, the 40 most listened to songs will be added to FIFA 23 itself as part of the World Cup mode so you can experience all of that World Cup hype with some of your favourites playing in the background.

Additionally, a brand-new release from the Gorillaz, titled ‘Baby Queen’, is also being included with a custom Gorillaz kit also due to come to FIFA Ultimate Team on November 17.

EA have also released a ranking of the top five most listened to FIFA songs on Spotify, with the top five being made up of Bad Bunny, Bomba Estéreo - Ojitos Lindos, Imagine Dragons - On Top Of The World, Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown, Avicii - The Nights and Glass Animals - Heat Waves, in that order.

For me personally, the FIFA soundtrack is something that I almost look forward to as much as the game itself and by the end of each year I can sing along to practically every song. It is an opportunity to experience old and new artists alike of varying genres and each year there is always at least one song for everyone.

Even if you don’t play FIFA, it is likely you have heard a number of past FIFA songs as one or two each year usually make their way into pop culture. This is usually via television advertisements or even sometimes via the official charts themselves, with EA claiming that over 330 million user playlists contain at least one FIFA song.

Also, if you are one of those people that plays their own music over the top of the game, you are really missing out. Even if you have never listened to the soundtrack before despite years of playing, there is no better time to jump in!
