The 27-year-old continues to struggle with injuries, and Jones feels his unavailability is damaging the Reds.

What is the latest injury news involving Keita?

Keita has been out with a thigh problem and looks likely to miss Liverpool's last two fixtures before the World Cup.

"Naby is still in a longer rehab phase. It will be tight. I think Naby will have a full pre-season with us in December and that will be perfect for him," Klopp said at the end of October.

Since then, it has emerged that the Guinean has picked up a new injury in a development that is likely to frustrate supporters.

Keita, who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in a deal worth around £53m (via Sky Sports), has missed a ridiculous amount of games because of his failure to stay fit.

What has Jones said about Keita and Liverpool?

Jones thinks it has got to the point where Keita's injuries are now hurting Klopp and his side.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "It's just unbelievably frustrating for everyone involved. Naby Keita is such a gifted footballer and this should have been a brilliant transfer, but he's been unavailable for 30 games over the past year and it has hurt Liverpool. There's no doubt about that."

What should Liverpool do with Keita?

As Jones mentioned, Keita is a gifted player, something Klopp has also pointed out.

"He has his best season because he's fit for the longest period," the German said (via BBC Sport) towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

"That's good for us and for him. Naby is an outstanding player - that was always clear. In other seasons where he was not that consistent he played incredible games. If you go back and look at our big games, you will realise how often Naby was on the pitch in these games."

However, the Guinea international does not play enough. With that in mind, is it really worth Liverpool renewing his £130,000-a-week contract? It is set to expire at the end of the season, giving the Reds a big decision to make.

Keita has a lot of quality and Liverpool spent quite a bit of money on him, so they may not want to lose the former Leipzig star for nothing. But all things considered, allowing an exit next summer makes a lot of sense.
