Jon Jones had previously been rumoured to fight at the UFC 282 event, and now one of the competitors in the co-main event of that card, Jan Blachowicz, has made a stunning claim about the former 205-pound Champion.

Jones has been out of the sport for some time, with his last fight coming in 2020 against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247.

The former 205-pound Champion is regarded as one of the greatest to ever compete in the weight class, with huge wins over the likes of Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

Here is what Jan Blachowicz had to say with regard to Jon Jones and his potential return to the UFC in the Heavyweight division.

Speaking to Middle Easy (via MMAJunkie), Blachowicz claimed that Jones will probably not return to the sport has he does not ‘want to lose.’

He said: “I don’t believe Jon Jones will be back to fighting anymore. I think he’s afraid to lose so much that he will do everything to not come back.”

“There was a time when he completely dominate our division. After a couple of years, everybody catch his level, and it was very hard for him to win the fight. Like with Dominick Reyes, it was a very, very close fight.

“Everybody who fight against him, it was a close fight. Closer and closer. So I think he started feeling that he’s not so good anymore, that we are growing up, catching his level, and finally someone will stop him. I think the reason he doesn’t want to fight is that he’s afraid to lose.”

There has been no official confirmation regarding Jones and his future in the sport of mixed martial arts, but he has been training and bulking up for a move to Heavyweight.

In terms of fights that Jones has lost, he currently has a 26-1-0 with 1 NC on his MMA record, so he isn’t exactly used to taking regular L’s in the octagon.

The only loss on his record came against Matt Hamill at the UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale, where he lost via Disqualification due to illegal elbows.

The only No Contest on his record came against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 - Cormier vs. Jones 2, where the result was overturned by the CSAC.
