Conor McGregor's net worth isn't quite enough for him to purchase a top Premier League football side, with the Irishman now wanting to buy Liverpool.

The MMA legend is not afraid to splash the cash, with McGregor often posting pictures on social media of the lavish lifestyle he lives, along with his successful business ventures, such as the Proper Whiskey company, which he bought a majority stake in for $150 million, according to Forbes.

McGregor’s net worth is primarily made up from the money he makes fighting. In his first and only professional boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, he would go on to make a staggering $100m from losing the bout, with the fight becoming the second biggest pay-per-view in the sport's history.

The Irishman also holds the record for fighting in both the two biggest earning pay-per view events in UFC history, when he fought Nate Diaz at UFC 202 and Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

But now McGregor wants to put his whiskey bottle to the side to try his hand at becoming an owner of a Premier League football club, but can he afford it?

What is Conor McGregor's net worth?

Well, according to reports, Notorious' net worth stands at £200m, which sadly means he won't be able to afford to buy the Merseyside club, despite his apparent interest.

The former UFC lightweight champion revealed on Twitter that he “would love it” if he could become the new owner of Liverpool with current owners Fenway Sports Group "inviting offers” for new shareholders, according to The Athletic.

This, on the surface, looks like a great opportunity for McGregor to finally get into the sports business market, but it's sadly one that will likely evade him.

This isn't the first time that McGregor has announced that he’ll buy a Premier League club, with the MMA-fighter previously taking to Twitter to say: “Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying Manchester United!”

He also declared an interest in buying Chelsea when Roman Abramovich was looking to sell up.

Fenway Sports Group bought Liverpool in 2010 for £300m, with the club now worth an estimated £4bn. This could be a great way for McGregor to increase his net worth, as he once said: “I’m 30 now, say by 35, I’ll be a billionaire.”

Many Liverpool fans responded to McGregor to state their uncertainty over him buying shares.

One fan said: “1. You’re a United fan and 2. You can’t afford it.”

Another said: “They're worth 4 billion not 4 million."
