Triple H is set to bring King of the Ring back to WWE as a one-night pay-per-view tournament, it has been claimed.

As part of his wholesale changes since taking over as Chief Content Officer, Triple H is set to make alterations to a lot of WWE's pay-per-view events.

Not only is Triple H believed to be doing away with gimmick pay-per-views, such as Hell in a Cell, but he's also rumoured to be bringing back some old-school ones, the latest being King of the Ring.

Is Triple H bringing back King of the Ring?

It's believed that Triple H is not going to bring back King of the Ring as a tournament, but also as a pay-per-view event for the first time in 20 years.

Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, WrestleVotes is reporting that the feeling is that King of the Ring is set to return as an event in WWE next year.

There's a very good chance that King of the Ring is back, and likely back in the format that had happened in the late 80s. The idea is that every single match will happen that night.

The report notes that the tournament is likely to follow a similar format as it did in the 1980s, meaning that every match will take place at a King of the Ring show.

In the 90s, a lot of the matches happened on Superstars and Raw, with the semi finals and finals on pay-per-view. If it's going to come back on pay-per-view, which I would say is probably going to happen, you're going to have a full-on one-night tournament.

With regards to why Triple H is bringing back King of the Ring as a one-night event, WrestleVotes explained that a lot of it is down to his love for old-school wrestling.

I mean, tournament wrestling is old school wrestling, and Hunter loves old school wrestling. If it still makes sense, especially when you have 500 people on the roster, you can do it. That's what they're going to do.

King of the Ring, which was recently described as "gold" by 2021 winner Xavier Woods, is beloved as a concept so this report is bound to come as popular news amongst WWE fans.

Latest news on Triple H

As noted, bringing back King of the Ring isn't the only change that Triple H is making to WWE pay-per-views as we head into 2023, according to reports.

A recent report, which you can read by clicking here, notes that Hell in a Cell as a pay-per-view is considered "dead" by "The Game", who wants to bring prestige back to the match.
