Arsenal are flying under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners appointed Arteta in 2019 with the club in dire straits.

Three years on from taking the helm, Arsenal are now top of the Premier League having won 11 of their opening 13 games to start the season.

The north London side look set to return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 season and are in contention to win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Arteta may not be where he is today without Pep Guardiola.

The Arsenal boss worked as an assistant coach under Guardiola for three years at Manchester City.

Guardiola would no doubt have taught Arteta a great deal about management during their time together.

But Guardiola is not taking any credit for how well Arteta is doing in north London.

The City boss recently sat down with Rio Ferdinand for an interview.

In the interview, Ferdinand joked that Guardiola had 'created a monster' in Arteta.

But Guardiola was not having any of it and suggested he would have been a success regardless of whether he worked alongside him or not.

VIDEO: Guardiola reacts after Ferdinand says he 'created a monster' in Arteta

"No, absolutely not!’ Guardiola told BT Sport. "He was already! That drive…

"It’s a perfect definition [of a club backing their manager], do you know why?

"There was not good results [in the past] I remember [people said] he must be sacked and ‘Arteta out’.

"I know Mikel, they see him, the sporting director Edu and the club, how he works, how he talks, we saw in the documentary [All or Nothing: Arsenal].

"We know it. They said, ‘Okay, rely on him, rely on him, it’s a process’ – people believed Mikel would go there and in six months they win the Champions League. He needs time!"

The video has gone viral with many Arsenal fans reacting. View some comments below...
