Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin 'would like' Toffees boss Frank Lampard to lure Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada to Goodison Park, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Merseyside outfit spent close to £70million ahead of the summer's September 1 deadline, but there will be another opportunity to splash the cash when the winter transfer window opens for business in January.

What's the latest news involving Kamada?

There is uncertainty over where Kamada's long-term future lies as his Frankfurt deal, which is worth £33,480-per-week, is due to expire next summer.

The 21-cap Japan international, who has previously been valued at £26million, could sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club when he enters the final six months of his commitment to the Bundesliga side in January.

According to German media outlet Fussball Transfers, Everton are among a number of clubs to have enquired about Kamada's situation.

The report suggests Villarreal and Benfica are also showing an interest in the 26-year-old, who has been on his current employers' books since joining from Sagan Tosu in 2017, but Frankfurt have put fresh terms on the table in a bid to keep him on board.

Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for Kamada but, due to being unable to tie him down to a pre-contract agreement, are hopeful of acquiring him as a free agent at the end of the season.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Kamada?

O'Rourke believes Everton frontman Calvert-Lewin, who was due to visit a specialist over a dislocated shoulder this week, would love to link-up with Kamada on Merseyside.

The journalist feels the Japanese playmaker would make the Toffees even more of a threat going forward.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure Calvert-Lewin would like to see someone who can come in there and add something to Everton's attack. It's been an issue for Frank Lampard's side so far this season - the lack of goals in there.

"If somebody like Kamada could come in and provide the ammunition for the forwards to score more goals and provide more creativity in the final third, I think it could only be a good thing for Everton."

Would Kamada be a good signing for Everton?

Kamada has enjoyed a stellar first half of the season and has already broken into double figures for goals.

He also played a key role in Frankfurt progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League by finishing second, behind Tottenham Hotspur, in Group D.

Kamada is set to go into the latter stages of the competition having got his name on the scoresheet every 173 minutes, while he also played his part defensively by averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 0.7 clearances per game.

The fact the Europa League winner is willing to put in the hard work when out of possession will be hugely encouraging for Lampard, who was appointed as Everton's boss in January.

Kamada will be involved in the World Cup, having been selected by Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu, and the Toffees will be keeping a close eye on his performances.
