Speed mistakes Man Utd legend for David Beckham

While Speed didn't meet his idol, he was able to meet a few Man United legends who were in attendance for the match.

One of the legends he met was Paddy Crerand.

The Scotsman, now 83 years old, joined United in 1963.

He enjoyed a successful eight-year spell at the club where he played over 400 times and helped them to five trophies, including two First Division titles and a European Cup triumph.

Speed had no idea who Crerand was, though. The two had a bizarre yet comical exchange where Speed mistook Crerand for David Beckham. View a video of the moment below...

Speed: "You are a legend?!"

Crerand: "I played here before you were born."

Speed: "Wait...[David] Beckham?!"

Crerand: "I'm a bit older than Beckham. About 30 years older!"

Speed then asks for his name and proceeds to call him Patrick Curney and said he played for United in 1720.

Crerand saw the funny side though and laughed it off.

There was another funny moment between the two where Speed tries to search up Crerand on the internet.

Crerand tells Speed how to spell his name letter-by-letter but Speed can't understand due to his thick Scottish accent.

Full credit to Crerand. He could easily have been wound up by Speed but saw the funny side.

The two then watched on as United beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
