Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor in 2017 was an exciting time to be a boxing fan, but their face to face with Money’s dancing as he walked to the stage was very awkward to say the least!

In the midst of his successful UFC run during that period, McGregor still had an interest in boxing and entertained the possibility of a “money fight” showdown with Mayweather.

UFC president Dana White in January 2017 said the fight would not happen unless Mayweather were to contact him, due to McGregor being under contract with the UFC.

The undefeated American whose record stood at 49-0 before the fight said he wouldn’t come out of retirement unless it was to fight McGregor, which was another factor at play at the time.

Two months later, White’s stance on the Irishman being able to take the fight changed and stated he didn’t want to deny the Notorious one a monumentally large payday.

By May 2017, McGregor agreed to all of Mayweather’s terms and signed the contract for what was then dubbed “The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History”.

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor's crazy press tour ahead of fight

With the fight set for August 26, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the two embarked on a press tour and held numerous face to face encounters with both men exchanging verbal barbs.

One of these particular confrontations was arguably the most hysterical for all the wrong reasons and here’s why.

McGregor had already made his entrance to the stage and waited for Money to make his presence known.

What followed was well and truly the most bizarre thing you’ll ever see, as Mayweather danced his way to the stage and he looked awkward whilst doing so.

He then started pointing in the face of McGregor, as the Irishman was doing his best Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson impression with a Just-Bring-It arm expression.

The whole theatrical part of the face to face was quite frankly cringeworthy, but the fans chanting Ole was awesome so there are some props for that.

Of course, we all know how the fight panned out, as Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the tenth round and extended his undefeated record to 50-0.

This cemented Mayweather’s legacy as one of the greatest boxers of all time and he took home the largest purse of the two.
