James Maddison looked gutted after going off injured in Leicester City's Premier League match against West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder was named in England's 26-man squad for the World Cup on Thursday.

He was in Leicester's starting lineup for the match against West Ham at the London Stadium.

Maddison has been in fine form this season and opened the scoring for his side in the eighth minute.

The ball fell invitingly to the midfielder at the back post and he made no mistake as he lashed his effort into the roof of the net.

That was his seventh Premier League goal of the campaign.

But, 17 minutes later, disaster struck as Maddison was forced off.

He went to the ground off the ball after suffering an apparent hamstring injury.

Declan Rice, also named in England's squad in midweek, quickly went over to Maddison to console him and check if he was alright.

The Leicester star received treatment for a few minutes before limping off.

It will be such a shame if Maddison is ruled out for the World Cup.

The 25-year-old worked so hard to get into England's squad for Qatar and he would have been overjoyed when Gareth Southgate included him in the side.
