Tottenham and Antonio Conte got a much-needed three points against Leeds on Saturday.

It had been a tough week for Spurs after a home defeat to Liverpool last week before crashing out of the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest despite fielding a very strong side.

Heading into the World Cup break with three points was vital.

They did that - but possibly in the hardest way possible.

The north London club have been notoriously slow starters this season and found themselves 1-0 down after just 10 minutes thanks to Crysencio Summerville's strike.

However, Spurs drew level after 25 minutes thanks to an incredibly controversial Harry Kane strike.

Illan Meslier believed he had been fouled during a corner, allowing Kane to fire home. Despite a VAR check, the goal was allowed to stand.

However, the mood inside the stadium took a turn for the worse once again before half time.

Spurs failed to deal with a Leeds corner and it led to Rodrigo firing home a volley past Huge Lloris.

However, we want to rewind a bit to when Marc Roca stood over the corner for Leeds.

Pitchside microphones picked up some rather unsavoury abuse from one Spurs fan as Roca was ready to swing the ball into the corner.

What was the Spurs supporter saying?

Well, take a listen.

If you didn't quite get that, he says...

"YOU'RE F**KING SHIT MATE! YOU ARE SH*T! YOU ARE USELESS! THAT'S WHY YOU'RE PLAYING FOR LEEDS! F**K OFF! YOU'RE SH*T! YOU ARE SO SH*T!"

We would have loved to have seen his face when Rodrigo made it 2-1 just seconds later.

He would have been slightly happier when Ben Davies made it 2-2 shortly after half time.

But Rodrigo put Leeds back in front with just 15 minutes remaining.

However, a late brace from Rodrigo Bentancur earned Spurs all three points in a seven-goal thriller.

Incredible.

Conte: Spurs had to fight for the win

After the match, Conte admitted his side 'had to fight' for the victory.

"I think this type of game make many, many people happy,” the Italian began. “The positives for sure, my players showed me in this game the good character because maybe in a lot of games we were losing and then we come back. For this reason I think that we show with the great character, great desire [to] get the lead, to don't give up and to believe in the win.

"Never give up: this is our mantra, and this is the positive side. The negative side is that to concede three goals is never good.

"I try every day to transfer this concept, that we have to start the game and [fight] until the end. We had to fight.

"If you want to reach a good result, you need to find stability. I think in the last period that we didn't show great stability I can think that the last period was really tough for everybody.”
