Manchester United hold an 'interest' in Jude Bellingham but boss Erik ten Hag is facing a 'problem' in his bid to welcome the Borussia Dortmund star to Old Trafford next summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Red Devils showed they were not afraid to splash the cash during the most recent window, having parted with more than £200million, but ten Hag will be given further opportunities to bolster his squad in January and at the end of the season.

What's the latest news involving Bellingham?

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed the Bundesliga giants will hold talks over Bellingham's future after he returns from the World Cup next month.

It comes after it emerged that Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are desperate to lure the Englishman back to his homeland.

Real Madrid are also battling for Bellingham's signature, but the Red Devils have a long-standing interest which dates back to his time on boyhood club Birmingham City's books.

But Manchester United would have to shatter their record transfer fee if they want to win the race for the 19-year-old as it is understood that Dortmund value him at close to £131million.

Bellingham's £49,000-per-week contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2025, leaving his current employers in a strong negotiating position.

What has Dean Jones said about Bellingham?

Jones understands that Manchester United are keen on Bellingham and among the clubs looking to hold negotiations with Dortmund.

However, the transfer insider feels ten Hag will find it difficult to get a deal over the line as other suitors will be more attractive to the central midfielder.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think United do want him and there is an interest in him.

"But I think there is also a realisation that if Jude Bellingham is going to make a transfer next summer, they are probably not going to have progressed, at that point, to a level whereby he is going to pick them above the other clubs that are going to be in to sign him. I think that's probably the biggest problem they've got."

Would Bellingham be a good signing for Manchester United?

There is no doubt that Bellingham is one of the most talented teenagers in world football at the moment, with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insisting he has 'the whole package'.

He has been called up to the England squad for the World Cup, which gets underway in Qatar later this week, and it is almost certain that he will add to his 17 caps after a stunning start to the season.

Bellingham has prepared for the tournament by showing that he is capable of producing the goods in the final third of the pitch, having scored nine goals and registered a further three assists in 22 appearances.

The Dortmund sensation also contributes defensively, recording two interceptions, 1.6 tackles and 0.8 clearances per outing in the Champions League group stage.

Bellingham has achieved an average match rating of 7.45 in the Bundesliga, a better figure than any of his team-mates, and ten Hag should test the waters.
