YouTuber IShowSpeed - also referred to as simply ‘Speed’ - was filmed having a brief chat with former England manager Roy Hodgson at Craven Cottage on Sunday.Speed, an American social media celebrity with 13 million subscribers on YouTube alone, was at Fulham’s home stadium to watch Manchester United and, specifically, his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.However, the 17-year-old was left devastated after it was announced that Ronaldo wasn’t in United’s squad due to illness.This was the second United game had attended in the space of three days. Speed was also in attendance for Thursday night’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Aston Villa at Old Trafford - another game Ronaldo missed through illness.Speed tweeted: “I’m crying right now i flew all the way to Manchester to see Ronaldo and he not playing.”

The teenager visited Sky Sports’ studio at Craven Cottage and even got some one-on-one time with reporter Geoff Shreeves.

But it’s fair to assume that Geoff’s job is safe for the time being based on Speed’s attempt to read out the Fulham teamsheet:

Another video was posted to social media showing Speed chatting to Hodgson prior to Fulham vs Man Utd.

What did Speed and Roy Hodgson say to each other? 

Per talkSPORT, here’s how the unexpected chat went:

Speed: ‘So you were the England manager? How was it?’

Hodgson: ‘Interesting.’

Speed: ‘Interesting, did ya’ll win a World Cup?’

Hodgson: ‘We were in a World Cup but we got knocked out quite early.’

Speed: ‘Did you used to coach David Beckham?’

Hodgson: ‘No, he was before that.’

Speed: ‘I don’t know any other England players –‘

Hodgson: ‘Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney –‘

Speed: ‘Rooney? Really? Yo, you touched Rooney’s hand, bro! I’m talking to the man who touched Rooney’s hand! The England manager, what’s your name?’

Hodgson: ‘Roy Hodgson’

Speed: ‘Roy Cosher… he’s the man alright. This is the man!’

It’s unclear whether Hodgson had any idea who Speed was and we don’t want to be presumptuous by assuming the 75-year-old isn’t clued up about the YouTube scene.

Although the fact the veteran coach had no questions for the young internet celebrity during their brief exchange suggests he probably isn’t.
