Leeds United are 'making moves' to sign George Hall as the Birmingham City youngster is seen as a 'potential star in the making' at Elland Road, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Jesse Marsch, who was appointed as the Whites' head coach in February, will be handed an opportunity to strengthen his squad when the winter transfer window opens for business.

What's the latest news involving Hall?

According to Football Insider, Leeds are in pole position to sign Hall as his departure from Birmingham is now 'inevitable'.

The report suggests the Whites are long-term admirers of the three-cap England under-19 international and have continued to monitor his situation after failing with an initial bid during the summer.

Leeds headed to the negotiating table and lodged a £3million proposal in August, but the offer was rejected by Birmingham.

The 18-year-old has made 17 appearances since the campaign got underway, notching a goal and as many assists in the process.

Hall penned his first professional contract with Birmingham 12 months ago, having gained interest from Leeds and Newcastle United.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Hall?

O'Rourke believes Hall has already showcased his talent by performing consistently well in the Championship.

The journalist feels Leeds are keen to strike a deal for the central midfielder as he has a bright future ahead of him.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Hall is a very highly-rated player. He's already got good experience playing for Birmingham in the Championship.

"Leeds obviously see him as a potential star in the making. That's why they're making moves to try and sign him."

Would Hall be a good signing for Leeds?

Marsch showed that he has an eye for up-and-coming talent by signing 18-year-old Wilfried Gnonto during the final stages of the summer transfer window.

With that being the case, it should not come as a shock that Hall is on the American's radar and he would be a shrewd acquisition as he has already enjoyed 19 outings in the second tier.

The teenager boasts 83 per cent pass accuracy inside his own half in the Championship and also contributes defensively, averaging 0.5 tackles per game this season.

Birmingham's under-18 lead coach Martyn Olorenshaw has described Hall as 'explosive' and 'dynamic', which further underlines his potential.

Leeds may have spent close to £100million during the most recent window, but there is no doubt that Marsch should head to the negotiating table and lure the midfield gem to Elland Road.
