Wolverhampton Wanderers owners Fosun Group have delivered their verdict on the season so far, and are 'focused' on the future, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What is the latest news involving Wolves?

Wolves have endured a very difficult season up to this point, currently four points adrift from safety, sitting bottom of the Premier League standings.

The club's hierarchy decided to part with manager Bruno Lage following a 2-0 defeat against West Ham in early October, however they did not have an immediate successor in place, and only appointed Julen Lopetegui to the vacant post on November 5th.

The new man in the dugout has had little time to make an impact even off the pitch before he officially takes over after the World Cup, but Wolves did manage to secure progression to the next round of the Carabao Cup, courtesy of a 1-0 victory at home to Leeds United.

It was a return to old habits in the Premier League match that followed, though, as the side from the Black Country slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal at the weekend, in their last match before the Qatar tournament.

The break will give Fosun time to reassess and put together a plan for the January transfer window, ensuring that the club is not embroiled in a relegation battle.

What has Jones said about Fosun?

Jones has indicated that the club's hierarchy is well aware of the way below par performances so far this season, but they are solely looking at the future, telling GIVEMESPORT:

"I'm told it's just something they're putting to one side for the moment. They know how dreadful the season has been so far, but they're not going to worry about what's happened, they're only focused on what's going to happen next."

Will Lopetegui improve results?

While Fosun took a while to tempt Lopetegui into joining the club, they have pulled off a real coup by getting the deal over the line, and they will expect results to be far better when the Premier League resumes.

Journalist Ryan Leister described the appointment as "fantastic", and it is clear to see why, as the 56-year-old has a brilliant managerial pedigree.

The pinnacle of the Spaniard's career is no doubt the achievement of winning the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020, defeating Antonio Conte's Inter Milan 3-2, while he has also managed both Spain and Real Madrid, so he has experience in being in charge of top-level players.

The task Lopetegui currently faces at Wolves is a different one as he aims to steer them clear of the relegation places, but he is certainly up to it and Fosun should allow him to strengthen in the January transfer window.
