Unless you've been absent from social media and also not seen a television screen since last Sunday evening, you'll know all about Cristiano Ronaldo's bombshell interview. After Manchester United's 2-1 victory away at Fulham - which was secured by an injury-time goal from Alejandro Garnacho - Piers Morgan revealed that an in-depth chat with the Portuguese superstar would soon air.And at around 10pm UK time, less than four hours after the Red Devils' win, a few snippets of Ronaldo's 'explosive' interview with Morgan were leaked. One part that's so far been released which has really annoyed United fans is Ronaldo's criticism of club legend, Wayne Rooney. The former Real Madrid and Juventus man said to Morgan: "I don’t know why he [Rooney] criticises me so badly... probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at high level. I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true...”Both brutal and unnecessary. What makes it all the more weird is the fact that Rooney hasn't really been that outspoken with regards to Ronaldo's struggles in 2022/3 at United.England's record goalscorer was critical about his former teammate refusing to come on as a sub against Tottenham Hotspur, but that's fair game, right?Read more - Cristiano Ronaldo: Wayne Rooney criticises Man Utd star and questions Roy KeaneWayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo during a Man Utd gameYOKOHAMA, JAPAN - DECEMBER 21: Wayne Rooney of Manchester United with team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo during the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2008 Final match between Manchester United and Liga De Quito at the International Stadium Yokohama on December 21, 2008 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Not in our book...

Video: Rooney's words about Ronaldo go viral after bombshell interview

See what we mean? Rooney simply said what a lot of people have been thinking about Ronaldo and his lack of footballing impact in 2022/23.

This certainly isn't the first time that a feud has been started between Ronaldo and Rooney, though.

Back at the 2006 World Cup, the two clashed in a quarter-final game between England and Portugal while teammates at United.

After Rooney was sent off for stamping on Ricardo Carvalho, Ronaldo was spotted winking at the bench, an act which saw 'CR7' become public enemy number one on English shores for quite some time.

The pair quickly made up when they returned to Old Trafford, but you get the feeling the latest squabble might be the end of their relationship altogether...
